Why this site exists
Plenty of people search for “Glowforge” when what they really want to know is: which machine should I buy to cut, engrave or make things at home in the UK? Glowforge makes desktop laser cutters and engravers — not 3D printers — and it is one option among many. This guide explains Glowforge’s range honestly, sets it alongside the diode, CO2 and fibre lasers sold to UK buyers, and covers desktop 3D printers too, because many makers end up wanting both.
How we research
- Manufacturers’ own pages first. Specifications come from each maker’s product or tech-spec pages, and we link to them as sources on every machine page.
- Blank beats a guess. If a maker doesn’t state something — weight, maximum cut depth, release year — we leave it out rather than estimate.
- Dated facts. Availability, stock and company news change. We show when each machine’s details were last checked.
- No invented reviews. We don’t publish star ratings, “tested” claims, scores or customer quotes. We haven’t lab-tested these machines, and we say so.
- Safety from proper sources. Our safety and materials guidance is based on the UK Health and Safety Executive, manufacturers’ manuals and other recognised sources, which we link to.
